Em·pow·er | verb | make someone stronger and more confident, especially in controlling their life and claiming their rights

During the fall semester, 10th grade students in the g2 program at Muscatine High School had only one endeavor - to empower those without a voice in their community. An idea to gauge community values through a city-wide survey rapidly evolved into a semester long process aimed at uncovering the collective identity of Muscatine. From this investigation came a photojournalism gallery - a sort of megaphone, projecting the stories that often go unheard within our community. In the end, the empowerment effect was reciprocal, showing students their endless potential and providing a platform for the true voices of Muscatine.

COMM{UNITY} Luncheon

Following an incredibly successful grand opening on the Holiday Stroll, the gallery will re-open for a business luncheon. This provides an opportunity for community stakeholders to engage in dialogue with current g2 students about their work this semester. Most importantly, the luncheon will unify students and businesses in a collective effort to propel our community forward through social and technological innovation. ​
